June 18th 2001
Hi there, just wanted to know when will the band be playing again in the Croydon area & where as me & my mate were at The Cartoon & we enjoyed the evening - Dean Benham.
Dean, thanx for the interest!! I will send an attachment of our gig guide. You'll notice there are two other bands dates on the list..this is because the "guys" are in two other bands! We are waiting for dates for the Cartoon, also The Gun at Sth Croydon. Will let you know when we get a date! Anyway hope to see you at some of the dates, The Bar Stars are a good laugh if you fancy coming along to any of their dates.
p.s. did you buy a c/d? If so didya like it?
Seeya - Lisa & The Guys.

JULY 2001

July 25th 2001
I have just finished listening to your new CD and I think it's great!! Lisa your voice sounds brilliant and the overall sound is really authentic. It's a good choice of songs as well, I used to love 'Will Anything Happen', it was a great track when it came out and I haven't heard it for years. I'm afraid we are playing this weekend, so won't be able to make it to see you, but I hope you have fun (after all, that's what it's all about). See you real soon, love Jason Wadey xx.

AUGUST 2001

Friday 10th - Extra Time Café, Broadbridge Heath, Horsham
Hi guys, great gig last weekend at the Rock Asylum. Mark R. (14th August 2001)

Friday 24th - The Gun Tavern, Croydon
Hey people. Just wanted to say wahey re: the gig you did at the Gun Tavern. We've seen Atomic Blondie a couple of times, and although they look the part (wigs et al), they only stick to the hits and dig no deeper. Also apologies for our Luke, who snoozed through most of your gig, despite being right down front. I (rob) was the one who kept waking him. So once again bravo. I speshlee enjoyed top of the Pops. I'd sat down only that afternoon and worked out the chords to that, weird huh. Roberto. (1st September 2001)

Just a quick E-mail to thank you for a brilliant evenings entertainment at the Gun last Friday. I'm the bloke you spoke to afterwards. I'm not kidding- you were absolutely brilliant!- and you didn't half cheer up my weekend. Thanks! I look forward to meeting you again! Cheers. Keep X-Offending! Garth. (6th September 2001)

Dear Plastic Letters, please tell your bass player to grow up and get a proper job, at his age he should be gardening at home not poncing around in seedy pubs pretending to be a pop star, loved the show, keep on rocking ! love PV xxxxxx (1st October 2001) - - - Top e-mail!!! His bad back can't cope with the gardening these days tho...and it messes up his hair anyway! Cheers Paul, hope you're well, let us know if they want us "up north", and if we're in Europe, we'll fly straight back!!!!!!! - Lisa & Martin. Incidentally, Paul who wrote this message was the drummer in the band 'Big Red Gun', that Bruce used to play with.

SEPTEMBER 2001

Saturday 8th - Beacon Court Tavern, Gillingham
Dear Plastic Letters, Absolutely brilliant night. Expected to see the Sussex Pistols (who couldn't make it) and was totally blown away by Plastic Letters instead!!! You sounded just like Blondie, especially the vocals and drums. Excellent stuff. Will definitely come and see you again. John C (12th September 2001).

Really enjoyed the gig. The band was really tight and had a great sound. It reminded me of when the songs first came out in the late 70s - I never got to see Blondie then, but seeing Plastic Letters the other night brought it all back! Look forward to the next gig. Roger (11th September 2001) - - - Thanks Roger, your CD is in the post.

Sunday 30th - Cock & Bull, Uckfield
Just had to send an e-mail to say I really enjoyed last night's gig, so much that as you know I bought your CD as well!!!!! I was very impressed with the overall sound, especially being only a four-piece, but it sounded great - as does the CD. When are you next playing at the Cock and Bull? See you soon, Karen S (1st October 2001) - - - Thanks Karen. You'll be pleased to know that we're performing again at the Cock & Bull in Uckfield on Sunday 3rd March 2002. If you can't wait that long, check out our other dates in the GIGS section.

OCTOBER 2001

NOVEMBER 2001

Saturday 24th - The Cartoon, Croydon
Dear Plastic Letters, hi great gig last nite ,god you guys played for ages,..this is a bit of a begging letter,if you guys ever need a support band in Kent, Essex or just about any where please think of us.
We will be very grateful.
Any way. Hope to hear from you soon ..jamie @potvin..cheers
(25th November 2001)

Dear Plastic Letters, had a great nite at the cartoon, thanx to great Southern hospitality (and they sold Boddingtons!) Golly rarely gets out of the secure home especially for a long weekend so it was pleasing for all concerned when you kept him interested enough to stop him taking his clothes off and dancing around while setting fire to his clothes. Nice to hear that you mentioning Scunthorpe got the loudest cheer of the night. We also thought the support band were cock-on, although their music is a bit young for us old gits they were extremely tight. We saw the Damned (real ones NOT tribute) the night before your gig and they were back on top form, it was worth the visit and all parties concerned had a cracking time. You have inspired me and Golly to start playing again, so we are forming a tribute band, but are not sure who to cover , maybe "Right said Fred". Anyway got to go - see ya soon PV, Golly xxxx (30th November 2001)

DECEMBER 2001

Saturday 8th - The Gun, Croydon
The cosy pub trappings of the Gun Tavern's back room finds the UK's finest Blondie tribute band back for more. And it's a very different gig to the one they played in the summer. It was one of the hottest days of the year last time round, and although tonight is bitter cold, inside the Tavern, like I said, its cosy. The main difference this time round is the length of the set. Last time Annalisa and her boys played just about every Blondie song bar Heart of Glass, a dream come true for every hardcore Blondie fan, a wet dream come true for every hardcore Blondie nerd. Tonight though, they concern themselves only with the hits and play a set for the casual Blondie fan, and what's more, they've learnt how to play Heart of Glass.
The musicianship can not be faulted, particularly impressive is Martin's drumming. Although the boys have not gone to as much trouble to look like Blondie as other acts have, their sound is spot on, minus the fact there is no keyboard. Guitarist whatsisname compensates for this quite amicably however. It's hard to criticise the very lovely Annalisa who recreates Deborah's vocals with the necessary volume, pitch and sexiness. She does seem to smile a lot, and who can blame her, she is clearly having a great time. If she tapped into her inner dominatrix though, she could make the willing men gathered to see her squirm. Deborah would be proud and the crowd would love it. Blondie's hits exhausted, Annalisa goes Siouxie with Dear Prudence and finishes with Top of the Pops by the Rezillos. Both are apt and go down a storm.
The one bogus thing about tonight is the support. Not the two slapheads on the decks, they combine high comedy with great tunes. It's Raw Fish, one man and his acoustic guitar. I know Plastic Letters are fond of him, but his choice of songs is a worry. He chooses songs that start with one guitar and a voice: American Pie, Rock n Roll Suicide, Exit Music to a Film. By the middle of these songs however, the rest of a band should join in and make a song out of them. Raw Fish however, probably gets so into the song that by this point he is hearing the rest of a band, whereas his audience are watching him sing 'and you can laugh a spineless laugh', and try desperately not to laugh themselves. Or just do.
Still, not enough to spoil the glory achieved by Plastic Letters, a band I intend to go and see as often as possible.
ItchyRob.

Sunday 3rd - Cock & Bull, Uckfield
Friday 8th
- The Cartoon, Croydon
Dear Lisa,
well done on last night. I'm afraid I had far too much to drink (Luke's fault) and I think I was dancing about like an idiot and generally lowering the tone. I went to see three metal bands on Thursday at the Cartoon and went to watch football at a pub on Wednesday and I reckon over the last three days I've consumed 51 pints of stella artois. Needless to say my entire body is rebelling against me. The vegan in me and the red blooded male in me done battle over what you was wearing on stage. Red blooded won. Hurrah. Let me know when the T-shirts are available cos I'm definetely going to have one. Hang loose, see on the next flip of the wave. PS, thanks so much for the dedication, it made me blush like a little soldier.
(Roberto)
- - > Hi Rob, Thanks for the email. Glad you enjoyed the gig. Did you get the mouse mat? The T-shirts are already available. We had them with us the other night. See you at The Gun on the 1st June? Love Lisa. x
Dear Plastics,
I thoroughly enjoyed the gig last night and cheers once again for the use of your gear. I especially enjoyed the Rezillos song at the end. How about a couple of Plasmatics numbers to add to your set for the future? I really like the one that goes "Sometimes I... feel it" (that slow one). I think you'd do a good job on that one. Thanks again for a great night,
Peter.
- - > Cheers Peter, Yeh we enjoyed the whole nite too! Martin thinks your attitude is great. We would definitely like to do some more gigs with you guys. Nice one! See you guys soon. Lisa & geezers xx

Hi Folks!
I just had a look at your website.....looks good. I see you played the Baths Hall recently and I heard it went very well. I'm the manager of Hull-based Blondie tribute band, Heart of Glass, and thought I would pass on the regards of my band and wish you all well.
Best regards, James.

Dear Plastic Letters,
Just to say how much we enjoyed your gig. I was with my mate Mark. He asked Lisa if she was going to do stuff from the first two albums. He had a Freddie Ljunberg haircut! He was also sick the next day from too much alcohol!
Thanks again for a great evening.
Cheers....Greg.

Hi Lisa. Must say it You & the band of Plastic Letters were great. It was so nice to see you & you are looking lovely as always. I had a great time Friday Night. You must let me or Terry know when your next local gig is.
Take care Darling & again you were great Friday Night xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

NOVEMBER 2005

Friday 11th - The Gun Tavern, Croydon, Surrey

Dear All,
Sometimes fate moves in mysterious ways...
Had been looking for some live music in Croydon. Went to the Cartoon, which was deserted with an adolescent group of Green day copyists playing, thought of The Gun and popped in. Didn't see the beginning of the set but caught you in full flow.
You were a revelation - it was as if I'd been taken back to 1978/79 when I first saw Blondie.
The sound was full on with the impatient edge that was there in the first 2 albums.
The breadth of songs wasn't just greatest hits (the easy option) but a mixture and "Love at the pier " & "Rip her to shreds" were awesome.
Atomic and Denis to me revealed just how truly everybody (Bass, Keyboards, Lead, Drums and Vocals) all came together to be more than just a sum of the parts. Apparently - you've only played 3 gigs together...it didn't sound or look like it from where I was standing.
Eager for another gig I've checked the dates, sadly can't do 2nd Dec as No1 band Stranglers are playing, but next gig after that I hope to be there.
I wish you well in your musical adventures and the gig on the 2nd Dec, and sincerely thank you for a great gig that made a dreary damp evening in Croydon a distant memory from the moment I saw you.

Jeremy

PS cheers for the Badge

APRIL 2006

Saturday 29th - The Grove Tavern, Wimbledon, London SW19

Dear Plastic Letters,
Thought I'd drop you a line to say thanks for the CD and also for the gig last night at The Grove.
You guys rocked the place and showed your professionalism through:
a) Superb vocals (really powerful and sassy), great song selection - some good choices of early songs incl. Love at the Pier and X offender. Heart of Glass was amazing - better than the original.
b) Some great guitar improvisation to circumvent the absence of a Keyboard player.
c) Serious "in your face bass" .
d) Some driven drumming and continuing to keep going with a split skin (ouch!). We'd not have known until you showed us...
e) Dealing with a challenging venue in more ways than one - who were the dancers and was there really a chinese takeaway in the middle of the pub!!
Any chance of "I'm Not Living in the Real World" or "Accidents Never Happen" at a future gig?
Until the next time...
Kind Regards

Jeremy

FEBRUARY 2007

Saturday 10th - The Gun Tavern, Croydon, Surrey CR0 1RN

Dear All,

Just a quick note to say thanks for an amazing gig on Saturday.

Highlights had to be:
a) a seemingly new keyboard player who looked like he'd always been with the band!
b) Searing guitar playing especially on Atomic, Call Me and Contact in Red Square.
c) Raunchy, sassy vocals on Rip her to Shreds and X Offender - girls don't cross this babe and guys she'd eat you for lunch (yes please you cry!)
d) A drummer who really pounded the pads and drove a relentless beat.
e) Throbbing bass which left a growl in the stomach.
f) Some great seamless links from song to song, leaving us no time to catch breath as the beat and songs went on and on..

You truly rocked Croydon and won round a venue where the crowd were initially quiet but were captivated by your professionalism and left shouting for more!

This isn't a tribute band but a time-warp back to when Blondie rocked!

Till the next time...
